Is it unsafe to draw on yourself with pen?

My parents just grounded me because I have ink drawings on my skin. My boyfriend and I were just writing/drawing on each other at school today. None of it is inappropriate. Just little doodles. They’re saying it will poison me.

My mom used to get soo mad at me for that! She used to tell me the same thing. From what I've gathered, you would have to dig deep enough to cut yourself with the pen and let the ink get into your bloodstream for you to get sick.

I got in trouble for writing reminders on my hands. I didn’t draw random things on myself, but I am not a fan of my students doing it. My coworker contacts the counseling department because the group home she used to work for considered it a form of self mutilation.

Yes it's not good for you. Skin is our largest organ. It absorbs everything. But I bet your parents allow you to use lotions that have just as many chemicals as a pen though. To be grounded for that seems a bit much but they are your parents. I did it as a kid but really it's not the best thing to do and obviously your parents dont like it so just listen to them. They love you and want you to be healthy.
