I went to my daughters pediatrician before the stump fell off it looked the same it looked red around her belly button and she had some pus inside and her pediatrician said that was normal however now that the stump has fallen off the redness surrounding her belly button seems to have gotten slightly worse... do you guys think this looks normal or could it possibly be infected? I saw the pediatrician 2 days ago and her stump fell of yesterday

My daughter did actually have a very severe infection as stated by doctors at the ER they admitted her right away now they have her hooked up to an IV and they are also giving her antibiotics... it really breaks my heart seeing her like this🥺 today she turns 2 weeks old and in these past 2 weeks I’ve had with her I had never heard her cry this much I even saw actual tears coming down her eyes from all the pain she was in as they where giving her shots taking her blood and hooking her up to all these things 😭 I really have no idea why her pediatrician would assure us swelling redness and pus oozing were all normal part of healing stumps but it clearly wasn’t at least in her case we did however switch pediatricians and now have a new one because after this I don’t think I could trust what her old one has to say anymore! Anyways I just want to thank all you ladies who told me to get her checked immediately I was clueless as she is my first baby but listening to you guys opinions could have really saved her they said had we not brought her in when we did that infection could have spread to her brain and it would have ended terrible so thank you all so much!!! we will be staying at the hospital 10 days because that’s the recommended time period to administer all the antibiotics she needs for her infection to get better so please keep her in your prayers! 🙏🏼
