Here's the skinny
I made this anonymous because I expect some of you will shame me. But hear me out.
I have sensitive, dry skin. Eczema runs in my family. I couldn't find a remedy that worked, even short term, no lotions, medicines, moisturizers or anything. I was also looking for new products for my hair, because while I wasn't trying to grow it out necessarily, I did realize it wasn't as healthy as it should've been. I started paying attention to the ingredients in the products I bought, I chose lots of “natural” products. Still nothing worked short or long term.
I don't know what made me think about it, but I started wondering why I needed any products if none of them helped. I thought more on it decided to drop all products. I used a stripping soap on my skin and hair to breakdown product buildup and afterward I stopped using soap and shampoo in the shower. I still use deodorant and I wash my hands with soap, but I don't use anything but water for the rest of my body and my hair, nails and skin are much healthier for it. I've been doing this for months and I've read articles from people who've been doing it much longer than me. When you think about it, soap wasn't always around and our ancestors still managed to be clean just my bathing in Rivers and whatnot. I suggest this if you're having problems with your skin, no matter your skin type. It took a while to get used to but I'm clean, I haven't told anyone and no one seems to notice. I recently learned the guy I'm dating also doesn't use soap, we've been together two years and I never would've known if I hadn't seen it for myself. I understand it's not for everybody, but you really don't need soap or all those skin regimens you think you do. I even have less acne now.
