UK pregnancies - any advice?

Got my first BFP yesterday morning (4 weeks 5 days) and have got to wait till 17th December for my first doctors appointment. Is this normal?? 
Super nervous as I just want to check everything is going as it should be.. don’t want to take any more tests as that will drive me mad lol.

I phoned the community midwives and got seen for a booking appointment around 8 weeks and then didn’t receive my first hospital scan till I was 12 weeks and then had a midwife appointment at 16 weeks and another scan at 20 weeks, got my other midwife appointment in 4 weeks, between these though I went for private scans😊

Most obs dont see you until 8 to 12 weeks unless you are high risk

Yes that is totally normal, they usually like for you to wait until you are 8-10 or even more weeks along before seeing you. If you were to have an ultrasound much sooner it might not show the sac or only the sac and not the fetal pole, even though you could be having a totally normal pregnancy. They can’t check for viability until after 6ish weeks usually, and sometimes people’s cycles are off. I thought I was 8+ weeks with my last pregnancy according to my period, but my periods are irregular and with my first ultrasound I found out I was actually 6.5 weeks along. 🤷‍♀️. The wait is so hard!! Lol. Pregnant with baby #2 & I have my first appointment on December 13th;  I am having such a hard time waiting!! Goodluck to you! ❤️
