Breast pump? When to start pumping??

Hey ladies! Any recommendations on a good breast pump? I also saw an Instagram post of a woman who starts pumping at 37 weeks to save up colostrum. I am super ify about that one but wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts on this.

You hand Express colostrum starting 37 weeks (or earlier if you've been approved) - NOT pump. Hand expression only. I've been hand expressing colostrum for the last week. Have 2 full syringes. Make sure syringes and collection cup are sterilized before use. Freeze and date each syringe. You should check with your doc or midwife before you begin because nipple stimulation released oxytocin which can bring on labor. Some women are advised NOT to hand Express because of this. It's not for everyone.

If approved you 100% can. They tell you not to because it releases oxytocin but honestly there is more of that released during sex and orgasms. If your body isn’t ready it isn’t ready. Also you may be more effective at saving it by hand expressing. Colostrum is VERY sticky almost like tree sap. Its unlikely you’ll get much as little drops can get stuck throughout the pump

I hated pumping with my first, so for me I will be waiting until I have to go back to work (most likely) to pump. And I’ll let baby bring my colostrum and drink directly from me until then.
