Baby talking??

My LO will be 1 in a week and he’s still not saying any words besides “dada” like 100 times a day lol. He has said “mama” in the past only a few times but quit after a couple of days. I’ve been a SAHM with him since the day he was born and he’s rarely around other kids but I talk to him and with him literally ALL day.. he understands multiple words but refuses to say them 🙄. His pedi isn’t too concerned since he’s with me all day and children seem to learn from each other but of course I’m a bit concerned when I hear other kids his age saying a few words 😕. Should I be worried? How do I encourage him to talk? I try to get him to say the word of whatever item it is that he wants but all he does is end up crying over it until I give In. On top of that, he literally laughs when I tell him to say a word soo

My lo is just over 1 but was born at 36 weeks. She isn't saying actual words. She says dadda, babba, mom and tata, she bables like crazy. I see people saying their babies talk, walk eat with a spoon and all these other things. Thats great that they do but thats not the average. Alot of kids are not talking yet, give him time. I think that its concerning if they don't babble or make eye contact at this age, but as long as they are trying to communicate then they are good

I would not be concerned till 18 months. At 18 months or anytime after if you are concerned get an evaluation done. Every state is required to give free speech evaluations. My son who is almost 3 1/2 started speech at 3, but I wish I followed my mommy gut at 18 months to get him tested. But I was always told “boys are slower in speech” which is true, but that doesn’t mean your child shouldn’t receive help. :)

Sounds just like my son! He’s one year old today and really only says Mama and even that one isn’t all that often.

I wouldn’t be concerned about your 1yr old at all! My 28 month old son is still stubborn with talking! He will say words on HIS terms, not ours, my 1yr old on the other hand will try to say any word that starts with “d” “b” or “m” (it usually doesn’t sound just like the word) but he says “dada, mama, duck, ball, and uh-oh” fairly well. (Something my 2yr old never did at this age) they’re all different

My daughter baby talks which is normal, saying actual english words isnt really common for every baby. Most english word she knows since i dont count mama or dada is Hi and waves. Thats it lol. Whats considered delayed in my brother's son whos a month older than her, he doesnt say anything other then hum sounds and cry, hes getting checked for speech therapy. But if your baby is actual saying all the things you said then your fine.

My son didn’t start talking until closer to 15 months. 
My daughter who will be 1 on the 31st of this month says: mama, dada, baba, uh oh, look and come. It’s normal for baby boys to start talking a little later

Most babies start to talk between 11-14 months. I wouldn't be concerned. My 11 month old also doesn't really say consistent words, but has now mastered waving goodbye, signing all done, and uses a horrible screeching scream to tell me he needs something (diaper, hungry, tired, etc). He has strong nonverbal clues, and I know he understands alot.

My son does the same!!! He went a month or two of JUST dada all day everyday. He used to say other sounds early on but it’s like he forgot them all. I was getting worried too and thinking he was behind when all of a sudden the other day he just started rambling all kinds of letters/sounds and was making baby babbling sentences. Still no other true words but I was soooo excited to finally get a break from dada. Totally normal for this age is what I have heard though.
