Help!!

I recently just bought a saalt cup and I’ve tried multiple times to put it in but it hurts so bad. I’m assuming it’s not supposed to be painful (similar to a tampon) and that I’m just putting it in the wrong way. However, I’m a virgin and read an article that this girl (who is also a virgin) bought lube for her cup and now it doesn’t hurt when it’s inserted. Should i try lube or just find a different menstrual cup?
