Midwife or Doctor?

Trying to determine between a midwife and a doctor. The midwife clinic I am looking into does have several doctors as well, but I like the idea of something a bit more holistic. Anyone have an opinion either way?

I went OB with my first and it was just ok but I am looking forward to the more customized care and holistic approach with my midwife. (Also going for a home birth this time)

I would highly recommend Midwife. I used one with my first, she was a nurse midwife who trained under OBs before opening up her place. I have to go to OB now because I have had issues with al my births so far. The care is amazing though and they will support you however you want to give birth.

Midwife all the way. They are always supported by or work with doctors so if you need one you have access

I would absolutely LOVE to have a midwife instead of an ob/gyn, but I have previous complications from my previous births and I can only use a doctor.
I would go with a midwife if I had the choice though!

A lot of the midwifery places have meet the midwife events. I went to one last night and was completely sold sold. One of the midwifes said something like the difference between a OB and a midwife is that an OB expects an emergency (so they do a lot of preventative interventions) whereas a midwife is prepared and ready for an emergency but expects a normal healthy birth (so they only use emergency measures once an emergency happens). If you don’t want a bunch of preventative stuff then a midwife is the way to go. For example: I don’t want to have a IV in the second I get there, unless I need it. I also don’t want continuous measuring of the baby’s heartbeat because it prevents me from being able to walk around (unless the baby is in danger) and I don’t want to have my baby laying on my back (I want help from gravity!). For those reasons I’m opting to see a midwife, they’re more focused on giving you the birth experience you want than an OB is.
