Is becoming a nurse worth it?

I’m currently in school and I am done with gen eds. I have always thought about nursing school but now I have a one year old and am due with my second in April. I’m just curious if being a nurse is a good career choice with two kids.

My best suggestion is to work as a CNA for at least a couple of months, just to make sure healthcare is really something you want to get into. If you can handle that stress, you’ll be just fine as a nurse 😊

I think it's worth it but it's not for everyone. I love working 12 hour shifts. At this point I feel like 8 hours are worthless I'm like why even go to work and not stay the extra 4 hours to get an extra 2 days off work each week?
You can get 8 hours as a nurse but hospitals usually do 12s and hospitals usually pay the best (at least where I live)

I am a nurse and I work long 12hr shifts. Personally I am thinking of a career change. Plus my friends who have kids have to work nights in order to  balance everything. Nursing is hard and stressful but you should try working in health care first and see if its fir you.If I am still in a nursing career when I get pregnant then I will work part time instead.

I am a nurse and have 3 young children with one on the way. Yes, the hours are long and you will have to work some holidays if you work in a hospital or long term care setting. When you work in a clinic or other office setting the hours are different and you usually get holidays off. Nursing offers so many different career paths/opportunities allowing you to find something that fits your lifestyle. I work part time weekend nights which allows me to be with my children during the week, volunteer at their school, go to school myself, etc. Nursing is a good career option but I’d definitely look into shadowing or some kind of work in healthcare to see if it’s a good fit for you.
