Would you help your child escape if they killed someone?

I had a situation hit close to home that made me think. A relative of my mom was allegedly showing his girlfriend a new gun that he got. It went off and killed the girlfriend. He then went next door frantic to his parents house. My moms cousin ( his dad) keep on telling him to run off to Mexico and that he would send him money. He didn’t listen and went back to his house to commit suicide. It’s not clear weather it was a accident while showing the gun or is now speculating that he was threatening her with the gun but not actually going to use it and accidentally went off. There were kids in the living room who told police they didn’t hear any arguing or fighting from the room. I’m adding the story because I know some people will want content and say depending on the situation. After hearing my mom say how quickly his dad was ready to help him escape really made me think. I know we’re not in some unrealistic movie plot were someone in today’s time would be able to escape but let’s just say you could in a hypothetical situation. I look at my boys and wonder what I’m capable of doing for them.
