Am I Over Reacting?

Me and my boyfriend live about an hour away from each other and last week, it was his birthday. He was going out with some friends for drinks that weekend and I was going too. He callee me about 3 days before we went for drinks and said “Don’t take this the wrong way but I rather you not come if you’re gonna have trouble getting home”. I insisted that I wouldn’t miss his party and I really wanted to celebrate it with him so I’d try find a way to get home. What upset me was the fact that he said he rather me not go. This was his first birthday we were supposed to spend together.
