I’m not a medical professional so I cannot provide medical advice for people. Aside from that I have a large knowledge on different formulas from Basic Milk based formulas, like Similac Advanced, to soy formulas, and special and special formula like the difference between powder and liquid. They contain different ingredients and are all based on the needs of certain babies. Again, only recommendations could be provided if anything along with a reasonable reason why. I would love to help any mommies out there who don’t quite know what steps to take, or what options are out there, but I would not want to tell someone to switch formula without a dr recommendation, because that’s that the AAP says. I would be more than willing to share stories or experiences on my behalf that may help other women find what will work for their babies.

My experience: When my son was 8 days old he had a rash on his chin, a nurse told me it might be a dairy rash. Fast forward >> My son is 10 weeks old. He cries every time I breastfeed him, he breaks out in hives, he sounds wheezy, his little tummy... it made noises like bubbling acid. He smelled, not like a dirty diaper, like he was fermenting it was so sad and so horrible. Here was this happy baby who couldn’t enjoy eating because it was so hard for him to digest milk. We tried so many things. But in the end I, myself, came to the conclusion that almost all powder formulas contain high fructose corn syrup. But there a certain liquid formula for milk sensitive babies. (Similac Alimentum) which is an extremely broken down milk proteins that are easy for the baby to digest. Once we leaped to that all my babies problems disappeared. We tried the same formula in the powder version and it does not work. To this day the absolute cause is unknown, we are doing testing again at 1 year. But the solution what that specific liquid formula. I tried to cut dairy out of my diet and continue to pump and breastfeed but personally, it got very hard and he still would react to my milk. He’s almost 11 months old and doing very well still on the formula.

MAM Newborn and Infant bottles I believe these these bottles are great for helping reducing extra air intake while feeding. The bottle have a ventilated bottom so air can escape while the baby drinks. They’re great for breast milk and formula. You can also self-sterilize these in the microwave. They are amazing at helping with reducing gas in tummies. You can purchase them at Walmart or Target.

Beechnut Organic Rice/Oatmeal Ceral These are first baby cereals. I prefer these over any other brand because Beechnut has been known for being safe with allergies. The rice flakes dissolve easy so we can make our cereal the perfect consistency. We use breast milk or formula. It’s great for beginning to introducing solids. You can find this almost anywhere that sells baby food. Walmart, Target, Kroger ect..

Munching for moms who are dairy free Although this may seem simple and obscure, if you are a mother who is cutting out dairy while breastfeeding your baby, you must know that your choices of dairy free foods are... well, limited. There are plenty of dairy free cheeses or salad dressings and the even yogurt. While some of them are not that bad, they don’t ever really capture the taste of those products truthfully. So my recommendation is to skip those food. Eat a hamburger without cheese and replace is with different toppings! Eat a salad with a vinegar/Italian dressing. And when in doubt when looking for something sweet. Oreos are vegan. Yasss! So to all the moms who are starved of chocolate because it has milk, or any of your fav treats. Oreos are a great fill in to dairy free sweet snacking.
