TTC after etopic pregnancy

Kelsea

I had an etopic (tubal) pregnancy 5 years ago— I had my right Fallopian tube removed due to being over two months pregnant. I was lucky I went to the doctors when I did.

I had bad pain on a Saturday. I decided to wait because I had an appointment for my first ultrasound on Monday at the women’s center. It was my first pregnancy so I was unsure what to expect.

When I got in there it was awkward, the technician didn’t say much— Then she said before you leave I need you to see the doctor. The doctor came in and said we need to take you to emergency surgery, and explained why, and what the procedure was. I immediately was taken to the ER to be processed and taken to surgery.

At this time in my life I wasn’t ready to a baby or trying to get pregnant. But once I heard this bad news I knew that this wasn’t what I wanted, and I knew that I did want a baby. This was the worst news of my life; my heart was completely broken, and I was so confused about why and how this could happen— I also felt like shit for having this happen.

Since then I have always felt like a part of me was missing. A part of me died that day, not just the baby. But a part of my soul died that day, and I have never felt the same again.

My boyfriend and I have been trying to conceive for the last 5 years and have not been able to. Every month I get my period, I feel worse and worse. The OBGYN told me when I went in for a check up appointment that I would have a baby again when I am ready.

I assumed that meant everything would be okay and I wouldn’t have any problems conceiving after having a tube removed. Now I’m not sure what it means, as it has been 5 years of trying. 5 years of tracking my cycle, and logging when we are sexually actively, downloading apps to help keep track, and reading things and other people’s experiences.

I guess I am looking for direction, help, and opinions on things I can do to increase my chances on getting pregnant. What are options, and things to do to increase fertility.

Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!
