Your Embryo After the Transfer

N • TTC #2, 1st IVF Cycle, diagnosis: severe endo & adenomyosis. 2 mc and 4 surgeries in 2 years, I am finally getting to continue IVF. SET/FET 12/16/19

Hi All!

I found this info online super helpful. I wanted to know what happens once the embryo was transferred into the uterus and finally got a day by day explanation. It helped me understand. I hope it helps others too!

Today was transfer day for me! It was very emotional. I have had four lap surgeries, 2 miscarriages all in 2 years. We have a 4 year old baby girl who I conceived naturally by some miracle. Wanting a second baby so she has a partner to grow up with. ❤️❤️

I hope this info helps others. I know the wait is gonna be torture, but at least I know what’s going on in there now. 😍

After an Embryo Transfer

After a blastocyst embryo transfer is completed, it takes about nine days before a pregnancy can be detected. During the days after a transfer, the following happens to the embryo:

Day 1: The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell.

Day 2: The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus.

Day 3: The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation.

Day 4: Implantation continues.

Day 5: Implantation is complete. Cells that eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop.

Day 6: Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the hormone that signals a developing pregnancy, starts to enter the blood stream.

Day 7: Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted.

Day 8: Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted.

Day 9: Levels of hCG are now high enough in maternal blood to detect a pregnancy using a blood test.
