Advice on unswaddling?

Question

My 3 month old has been swaddled since coming home from the hospital. He sleeps great! Usually about 10 hours per night, with 0-1 overnight feedings.
I know I should unswaddle him once he can roll. I'm curious how your babies adjusted to unswaddling. Any tips? He is currently in the bassinet next to me. Should I unswaddle him there or get him used to his crib and then unswaddle?

You don’t have to move to the crib to drop the swaddle.

I switched from an arms-up swaddle to a Zipadee Zip. Still provides a little coziness but it’s loose enough that she can roll safely in it. Didn’t notice any worse sleep after the switch. Also the startle reflex that wakes them up should go away by around four months so they don’t need the swaddle as much anyway.

We started unswaddling the upper half but still keeping him in a sleep sack. So essentially just his arms were free, so if he rolled over he could roll back

We stopped swaddling at around 2 months and put our son in his own crib. He loves his comfortable mattress. It also taught him that when he woke up from his startle reflex that he could fall asleep again in his crib. He would startle himself a lot but because he liked where he slept more so he was ok with it.
