Where to settle

Question

How did you guys as a couple decide on where to settle? My husband wants to move to New Hampshire and from a very young age I've wanted to live in the West (Wyoming, Utah, or Montana).

If you want motivation, move to California. Lol if you can make it here you can live anywhere. Rent however is EXXPENSIVE. I pay 2900 for a 4bd 2 bath, but I’ve become a landlord and have even raised the rent on my tenant so now I only pay 1400. The rented unit is separate.. now paying 1400 for a 3bd 1bth is a steal!!!! 😂 I have 2 kids and a husband and we live VERY comfortable in the heart of the Bay.... 
I lived in Utah too!! Both SLC and Saint George.. Saint George is beautiful/ gorgeous, but it’s a growing city and the roads weren’t made with that in mind...and I found drugs very easily! It was more accessible there than in Cali because the city so small!! (I’m not a druggy I use to party in college there.) 
SLC is 50/50 for me. It’s nice but it’s boring as hell all over Utah.. which is probably why I moved back to Cali...
Then I moved to Texas!! (I’m a free spirit n like to try new places) I LOVED TEXAS!!! The atmosphere, the PEOPLE ARE SO KIND, it’s so child and sports minded!! It’s a great feeling I get in Texas seeing family’s everywhere doing outdoor things. Lol I sound corny. But It’s beautiful.
I moved back to California tho where I met my husband in my hometown city! The Bay Area is fun, always something to do! My husband and kids have so much fun here, we love being tourists in San Francisco, there’s always something new to experience.. like we all know, it’s so fucking expensive but that can change if you want it to... the Bay Area is great and we plan to buy a home here and in Texas if all goes as planned... Goodluck on finding a home!!

We wanted to be somewhat close to my parents for childcare but not too close for surprise visits lol 
We are south of Boston, but New Hampshire is tempting. My cousin lives in a beautiful home in Nashua, NH

We compared the cost of living, happiest states, average temps and snowfall, etc and combined that with places we could realistically get good jobs in :)

Right now my husband is serving in the military so it's out of our control for now, but when he is done with his enlistment we will move to wherever he can get a job. He already has a job offer at a company in Florida. But he's still applying at places. So for us we look at job/work, then year round weather. Weather plays a big roll for us.

Probably the first thing you should figure out is what you're doing for employment and if you can realistically get a job wherever you choose to live.
