Praying...???

Why do Christians say things like "god has a plan for you" "god bless you" "I'll pray for you" etc. I genuinely do not understand it. Do you really believe it helps? Do you actually pray that "gee I hope some lady on glow get pregnant?" Does it take the responsibility off of your shoulders? Like well it didn't happen so I guess god didn't want it to happen.

I have been an atheist since I was 6 years old and I push away everyone who is a strong believer because of lack of respect. So I clearly do not understand the religious beliefs because I dont let myself get close to those types of people.

I'm not attacking anyone, just a curious atheist wondering what the big deal is with god and jesus.
