Five week miscarriage

My husband and I have been trying for almost 8 months. I finally got a BFP about ten days ago. Soon after I started bleeding and clotting. All my positives were now negatives. My doctor said I probably had miscarried due to the amount of blood I was experiencing and the negative test. I didn’t think the first time I ever saw a positive it would end this way. Anyone else’s experience this? How long did you wait to start trying again?
