Time outs?

What's everyone doing for discipline? My son has been hitting and pinching then laughs in your face when you try to tell him no

You can’t really discipline a 1 year old, they don’t understand. The best thing you can do is not react (positively or negatively) because they feed off that reaction, and just redirect them. Keep redirecting until they lose interest in the “bad” behavior.

Everything is for a reaction at this age. Give a firm NO and then redirect or move on to something else. Do not give a big reaction because that’s what LO wants.

I say a firm no and turn away. This lets her know this behavior won’t get any attention. My daughter follows directions and can sit for story time with her older sister. It can be done but I’m also a SAHM.

I try saying a firm no the first time, but if she continues or thinks it’s funny, I just redirect. I don’t want to give too much attention but want her to understand the meaning of “no”. They certainly are not cognitively able to understand a “time out” just yet.
