Would I be insane to do my own wedding makeup??

Question

I'm getting eloped in March and I'm trying not to spend too much money. I'm pretty good with makeup. Where I used to work I would have people coming up to me all the time asking me for makeup advice, telling me I should be a makeup artist. 
So even though I'm NOT a makeup artist I'm really confident with doing my own eye makeup. Plus I'm super picky so I would honestly prefer doing my own eye makeup. What I'm not as confident with is doing my face makeup...like what would be too much for the camera/not enough for the camera...for years I've only worn bare minerals matte powder in shade light beige, nothing else on my face.
Anyways, any other ladies here did your own makeup and it turned out ok?
Or this is a horrible idea and I should just get a makeup artist.

I went to a makeup counter and spoke to someone about colours etc and she gave me some tips which I then used x

My husband and I had 3 ceremonies and I did my own makeup for the first and had a professional for the other 2. One of the things I realised is no one knows your face better than you do especially if you have already developed your own style. So even though the professionals may be able to create a beautiful overall look, you might still want to retain a little bit of you and insist on doing maybe your signature feature yourself e.g liner etc.

You sound dramatic. It's not a big deal in the slightest to do your own makeup. I did my own makeup with no problems when we eloped. Also, you're 'eloping', not 'getting eloped' 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes do your own makeup, your confident doing it then why not I had someone do my makeup, I told her light make up well like with the foundation well I was wondering why she was spending so much time on my foundation she put way to much makeup for my liking, plus it was orange and not my color.

If you’re confident in your makeup abilities and know exactly how you want to look on your big day, I’d say go for it! I personally can barely fill in my eyebrows evenly, so I hired a professional, but if I could have done my own, I would have so that we could have saved a little more money!
