Reason to be upset.?

So I am a ftm 23 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. My spouse and I finally came up with a name we kind of agree on. I was excited to tell my mom on what name we were thinking of naming our son, which was, Carter. She immediately begin to laugh and tell me how ugly the name is and if we name our baby that a she will call him "ca ca" because she hates the name. I'm hormonal of course and could possibily be slight over dramatic about being upset about this. Thoughts.?

This is why I’ve always kept the name a secret. I didn’t want others opinions. I’d tell her you guys are still deciding and then announce when baby comes. I doubt she’ll be able to say anything bad with a cute little baby in her arms that she would now be personally disrespecting.

I think you’re overreacting. Not everyone is going to like the name you choose, people have negative connotations with different names. Carter makes me think of the kids clothing store. You’re going to make lots of parenting decisions that people won’t like, don’t agree with, and have opinions on. If you’re insecure this stuff will really hurt you constantly. Work on getting a thicker skin because unsolicited comments are coming in hot.

Not at all. You have every right to name your child whatever you like and your mother should respect that. I think it's very rude of her. This will also be the reason why I'll never tell my mom the name of my child before it is born.
