Positive All Natural Birth Experiences?

Question

Would any of you care to share your positive all natural (no pain meds or interventions) birth experiences? I am 38 weeks today and I’m really unsure about whether or not I’ll go all natural or get an epidural. Reading positive experiences does seem to help ease my mind! So I’d love to hear!

We had medical intervention as I had to be induced due to high blood pressure. I had cytotec, a foley balloon, and pitocin but did not have any pain meds at all. I breathed and moved positions to what felt comfortable. My nurse was awesome at working around me wherever I was (i had GD as well so my sugar needed to be checked as it spikes in labor and insulin is often needed). I had a great delivery and hope to do the same again this time. 
Everyone’s experience is different. Do what works for you. Have an idea of what you’d like but keep an open mind too.

Sure. I’ve had two births like that. There isn’t too much to share really.  
The first one (second birth)  I labored at home for several hours.  I wanted to wait as long as I could before going in.  I arrived, they triaged me - I had to use the bathroom and was petrified I was going to give birth in the toilet by mistake haha.  Then I threw up all over the floor. They moved me to a delivery room. I told them I didn’t want an IV - the nurse said she’d ask the doctor but told me it’s standard. Doctor was fine with it.  I mostly labored on my knees and walked around a bit. Doctor said I was fully dilated and asked if I wanted my water broken. I did. Contractions were way more painful after he did that. Then I gave a “practice” push and the baby’s head was born. I was flipped to my back and the doctor was called back in and I delivered the rest of my baby. 
The second one (fourth birth) no one realized I was in labor. I was 32 weeks and had been in earlier that day for monitoring and was sent home. They told me I wasn’t in labor and their test said I wouldn’t deliver soon.  It didn’t feel like labor to me either since the contractions were mild, irregular and far apart. But while we were eating dinner they started to get stronger. I called my OB and they said come back in. I did not imagine I’d be delivering. But when I arrived they said I was fully effaced and dilated to 7.  I told them no IV, but I hadn’t had my group B strep test yet so they insisted on antibiotics. I said as long as they took it out during pushing. So, I had about an hour of IV penicillin then they took out the IV and my preemie was born in two pushes.

I didn’t have any pain medicine over the course of 3 days of labor. I credit my doula and my husband with helping me feel so well taken care of I could “let go” enough to zone out and not worry about controlling what was going on. The shower helped me a lot. The tub helped my son get in a good position. Google “the miles circuit”, that helped position my son properly at the last minute. I painted positive birth affirmations when I was pregnant and hung them up around my door to look at every day. I listened to podcasts like Fear Free Childbirth. I watched videos of animals (and people of course lol) giving birth to remember how common it is even though it’s hard. Giving birth with no pain medicine is best planned and studied for prenatally.

I was induced with pitocin but had a med free labor. I plan to do it again this time around. I moved a lot and made low noise during contractions.  The tub also helped a lot.
