Stay at home mom?

Question

Who here is a stay at home mom?! 
I am a FTM and a SAHM. I’m debating on going back to work but I’m not sure if it’s worth it? My husband pays all the bills and part of me just feels terrible that he has to do it alone, I wish I can contribute some, ya know? But part of me wants to just stay at home, raise our own kid, and take care of the house. Plus price of child care is ridiculous so is it even worth it? My husband said to me that if we were both working, we wouldn’t be raising our own child and the house would never be clean and in order. 
Are you a SAHM? If so, how did you choose to be a SAHM vs a working mom? Do you like the choice you made? And why?! Please share! Thanks :)

I stayed home the first year. I was consistently depressed. As it turns out, most parents don’t know what the fuck they’re doing when it comes to child development and what is age appropriate in regards to learning and socializing. Going back to work was not only a great decision for my mental health but for parenting. I don’t need to change every diaper and sing every kids song at the expense of the social and development skills of my child. I also make more than my husband so having a second, higher income was a nice added bonus.

I’m a SAHM to two girls. I love it but agree it can be isolating. I think making sure to get involved in activities is important for your own sanity. If you can afford it when the child is old enough definitely do some classes ( dance, music, whatever interest the child may have ) to sort of belong to a community and be around others. Also of course there’s the library and parks and rec classes mommy and me meet ups etc but it is work finding stuff to do. It’s worth the search and effort to keep yourself and your child socialized!

I was going to go back to work but just couldn’t send her off. 
I mostly enjoy being at SAHM because I have lots of freedom but I also go crazy with the overload of toddler everything and sometimes crave mental stimulation. I’m thinking maybe part time work would be good so I can have the best of both worlds.

I have been a. Sahm mom for almost 3 years now.  I understand how you feel. Been there. Still am at times.  Here my husband always tells me. I do contribute￼ by caring for our son and taking care of the house. We work on the house together mostly.  But I do the laundry and most the dishes.  
So remember you are contributing in the most important way. You are caring for your baby. ￼

I was a SAHM for two years and now I work as a customer service manager (30ish hours a week). I LOVE working! I was so lonely as a SAHM and I wasn't treated right at home because I didn't bring home money. I actually have my own money, I'm secure that my bills are being paid because I'm doing it, and I now have lots of adult friends

I’m a SAHM & it gets lonely A LOT. I often get depressed, but I also don’t have a car. My husband and I both share one, but he works obviously. My son is 7 months. I’d like to work, but in all reality it’s probably smarter to stay home because child care is insane where we live & I always have mom guilt of leaving my son & not being there for his milestones. I love the 1 on 1 time I have with my son. It’s definitely brought us extremely close & he’s super advanced for his age because I have so much time to play & interact with him! There’s definitely pros and cons, if you think you can do it physically & mentally & you don’t need the extra financial help, go for it!

I work part time, my boss is extremely gracious with my hours and lets me work from home when needed. Even with that, I'm barely keeping up with housework! 
I think if you can afford it, being a stay at home mom could be so helpful to your husband, not harmful. He has a clean home he can return to and rest, with a wife who's not burnt out from work+housework herself, and his child gets to be raised at home with their mother. I know my husband has consistently voiced how glad he is that his daughter gets to be with me all day, something we both didn't have growing up. 
Of course, there is nothing wrong with being a working mom, but my personal preference (and what we are financially working towards) is to have me be home.
