Would it be okay to ask my boyfriend this?

I’m allergic to dogs and my allergies get aggravated in the winter time. I get eczema that’s nearly uncontrollable and it makes me so miserable. 
My boyfriend has a dog that he loves so much, but I’m awfully allergic to her. The dog spends so much time in his room with him, so even if I’m in the room when she’s not in there, my allergies still act up because of the fur and dander that gets everywhere. 
Would it be okay to ask him to no longer allow the dog to ever be in the room (even on the days I’m not around) so my allergies don’t act up when I’m there? She can still chill in the living room, kitchen, basement, etc. He treats the dog like his own child so I don’t want to cross any boundaries.

You’re going to his house. His dogs whole life is there. He probably sleeps with your bf every night. I think it’s a bit unreasonable to ask him to not let his dog — live the lifestyle it does. I’d recommend you getting allergy meds or getting the shot. Going into this you should make every adjustment necessary before asking someone to change their ways when it’s at their own house if that makes sense, considering you want it changed when you’re not even there.

Yes, that’s wrong. You need to think about where this relationship is going. If you’re that allergic to his dog and you would want to eventually move in with him, y’all need to break up. This is eventually going to become a HUGE problem. Just like I would never date someone who didn’t like my pets, you shouldn’t be with someone if you don’t want to be around their pet.

I don’t think that’s unreasonable. Have you tried getting allergy shots? I would start there and if that doesn’t help you then making the bedroom a pet free zone is probably the next best compromise. It’s going to be hard though! I have two cats and actually will only date people that aren’t allergic. They would throw the saddest fit if I told them they can’t sleep with me anymore 🙈

A dogs whole world is the house. Shutting off a room makes their world just that much smaller. Does the dog sleep in bed when you’re not there? Does he vacuum and dust regularly? Is there any allergy filters that might help. 
I think it’s reasonable to bring up but I’m assuming the dog came first and is in a way his #1. I’m not allergic but generally against dogs in the bed but since the dog came first I just have to roll with it (he usually sleeps in his kennel when I’m over though but any night I’m not he’s in the bed) so I get the struggle of not wanting to overstep boundaries or try to tell him how to care for his dog.

I think it's a little unreasonable. My fiancé refuses to let me get rid of my dog and wants her in bed with us even though he's allergic to her drool (she's a bully so she's ALWAYS drooling) but he deals with it if it's bad he'll get something for allergies. That's that dogs entire world. You guys could hangout at your house or somewhere else.

If I was dating someone and I had a reaction to their animals, I would hope they would be able to take my allergies and reactions into consideration. At one point, I almost offered my bf to help bathe his cats to help keep up on the dander bc sometimes I can react horribly and it can be miserable. I’m not sure I would ever ask or expect of him to restrict their area around the house. I would offer to perhaps help clean up and keep the area clean and free of pet dander. Not unreasonable, but at the same time I think there are other options that you can do. But at the same time, if they’re not already consistent of your relationship and you have to ask, I’m not sure a relationship like that is going to last and it may end up driving a wedge.
