At Home Fetal Dopplers? Good idea? Bad idea?

Question

I'm personally not going to get one on my doctor's suggestion not to. I'm a very anxious person and we both know if I couldn't find the baby's heartbeat I would lose my mind and end up in the ER every day.
But what about you guys? My doctor joked that they shouldn't even be allowed to sell those because they cause more stress than they fix. 
Do you guys have one? Love it? Hate it?

Puts my mind at ease when you use it inbetween scans. Once I feel movement I dont use it as often but definitely less stressed during the early days. My first born found heartbeat at 11w3d, my second I found at 9w. Not even had my first scan yet as I'm 11w now get it at 12w.

I have one n used it for two pregnancies now. I was high risk do to gestational hypertension and preeclampsia so hearing their hearts beats outside of nonstress tests helped to put me at ease. I will most likely use it for my next one. It takes a few tries to find where ur little one is hiding but once u do it’s so magical.

I don't like them for 2 reasons. 1 is the anxiety of you can't find the heartbeat. The other is that there's just not enough research about long term exposure to ultrasonic waves in utero. I discussed it with my midwife and she said the same thing.

Didn't have one for my pregnancies, didn't want one either. I could call my midwife or the hospital at any time if I wanted to have a check or felt something was odd. 
I see so many posts here asking if this or that is normal, or if they should go to the ER since they can't find the heartbeat at 8weeks. So yes for many it causes way more stress than necessary. And working in the medical field I see way too many that think they know what they are talking about, but in reality is way off.

I love mine. With my son I used it at 12 weeks and couldn’t hear anything. But I didn’t freak cause I also had a scan and you could. I waited till I was 15 weeks and heard it every time after that. Sometimes it was harder to find but when I did it was worth it. I’m currently pregnant again and plan to used my Doppler again after 12 weeks(:

We got one with both pregnancies This one we bought it around 13 weeks. Works amazing and used it for piece of mind until I could start feeling him like crazy. I stopped using it because I'm almost 29 weeks and feel him moving all the time. I think people need to keep in mind when you buy one especially if you've never used one or you don't know how, you have to take your time finding babies heartbeat and be patient, especially if your earlier on. It can take awhile to find in earlier weeks, and babies usually low, but personally loved mine. 💙

I LOVE my at home doppler. I just quickly check for the heartbeat every once in awhile and it puts me at ease. I definitely would reccomend getting one when baby is 12 weeks or older because it's super easy to find from there on out.
