Anxiety & Streaming?

Hi all,

I’m a fellow gamer who loves playing the sims 4. At the age of 22, i have extremely bad anxiety that I’ve learned gaming helps with that.

As of a few months ago, I’ve started streaming on twitch, but I’ve gotten 10 views total at most.

I know the only way people will watch me is if I promote my twitch, but I’m so scared of people I know watching me, judging me, etc.

as crazy as it sounds, I’d rather be judged by people I don’t know.

I know I shouldn’t let this fear bother me, especially if it helps with some of my anxiety, but how can I take that final step and just do it? I wanna stream, I want people to watch.

I just need help getting there ☹️

I honestly understand that feeling as well. I’m in the same boat but I’m too scared to even start streaming. But My brother in law is a streamer and I’ve helped with him a little so maybe the same things that worked for him might help you. One thing is make a social media account for your streaming profile then post at least weekly with multiple hashtags that would interest other gamers to follow you. My brother in law did Twitter and IG but he had way more success with getting people from Twitter than instagram. Next, every time you go live post about it on those social media accounts with hashtags. Also, if you do have any friends or family who you feel comfortable with sharing your streaming with I would ask them to follow you and then either share of give you a shout out on their story. Me and a couple of his friends do this. When we were all doing this constantly we got him up to 3,000 followers and about 1,500 subs with about 2,000 views every time he streamed. It took us about 5-6 months. Since then he’s had to stop due to financial and family reasons. But he said it was so worth it! Also, this probably helped him quite a bit as well but he was more of a variety streamer and played games that were popular at the moment with the fan base of Twitch. E.g LoL, Fortnite and CSGO. So perhaps if their are other games that you can enjoy playing you can do that as well. Also, if you’re ok stress and anxiety is too much perhaps you could make a YouTube and start promoting videos on there. In my personal opinion, and just my personal opinion I can be very wrong, the sims is a very hard game to get attraction to on popular streaming sites. Unless you’re already a famous streamer or you’ve been around for a long time it can be very hard to get views when you’re a fresh account and your playing the sims. When I personally am looking for sims content I go straight to YouTube. I love watching Clare Siobhan and other sims 4 content creators! Hopefully this helps and if you do decide to to the social media accounts I would love to follow you and shout you out when you stream! I have many gamer friends who would love to tune in!
