Painful Sex Almost 6 Months PP? TMI

Question

We have only had sex twice since I gave birth once at 12 weeks pp and once last week at 5 months pp. Both times during entry it was pretty painful like hot knives. We used lube but it didn't help at all. I did have a second degree tear and a pretty good scar. We were able to have sex and have it feel good eventually but initially it hurt alot. Is this normal thinking I shoukd check in with my doctor although I'm sure there isn't much they can do. I'm also breastfeeding if that makes a difference.

Same boat here, we are trying to have sex more regularly as each time it gets less painful. We had to go to a romance shop and get specialty lube and that made a HUGE difference. Also using more lube then you think you need, and keep applying really helped. It went from hot daggers to a little stingy to start. Go really slow, lots of foreplay, and a little wine if you can or a warm bath to relax before. If it doesn’t improve it doesn’t hurt to see a pelvic floor therapist or your doctor.

It’s normal, but nobody likes to talk about it. You should talk to your doctor and ask for a referral to a pelvic floor PT. They will help manipulate your vaginal and hip muscles to readjust.

I had a second degree tear due to an episiotomy and I had sex at 4 weeks PP. It hasn’t been painful at all. To me, that would be abnormal, but it seems others have experienced that. My son is also formula fed and has been from birth. 
Maybe speak to your doctor to see if anything else is going on.

The first few times it was not super fun for me either. I had a second degree tear too. I will tell you that it has gotten a lot better. The key is to try to have sex at least once a week and tell him that you need a lot of foreplay. Lube is great and all but foreplay tells all your lady parts to loosen up and makes for an easier and more comfortable ‘entry’.

That’s what it was like for me when I first started having sex again and it’s still like that if I go a week or longer in between but I had a csection so I’m not much help here besides the fact of the same kind of pain. I would suggest doing it more often if possible the more you do it the more you’re body will get used to it again. My only problem in that department is my sex drive doesn’t even exist anymore lol.
