Breastfed baby...cereal time?

My man baby is almost 3.5 months old!! Our doctor said we can start cereal if we wish around 4 months. He says 6 months is definitely a safe number but some babies are more than ready earlier in life. I’m not going to outing in his bottle, just a tablespoon in a bowl. I feel that chase is ready, he does good with sucking on a spoon (I’ve been testing him 😂) is anyone else going to start sooner than later...or at least “attempt.”
He was born the first of October!! We just made the 2019 babies group 😂

I would try oatmeal first as rice tends to constipate.

We have a 3 month old and wanted to start her on rice cereal as soon as we can b/c she doesn’t seem to get full off Breastmilk or formula. She always fusses a little after a feeding. She’s up to 5 ounces every 2 /12 to 3 hours and 6 ounces before bed. Sleeping through the night. We did some research and found a lot of info saying rice cereal has a lot of arsenic in it and it has no nutritional value. So, we are waiting til our next check up with our pediatrician at 4 months old. Will ask if we can just purée veggies and fruits. Good luck to you, hope everything goes well for your LO.

With my first daughter I only did it when she could sit up on her own, support her own neck and head so she could swallow food, and when she showed an interest in food, so that was at five and a half months.

Our doctor suggested that we try giving her rice cereal 2 weeks before her 4 month appointment. So we are giving it a whirl in a couple of weeks. She said it wouldn’t be for nutrition yet but just to see how she is doing with swallowing.

I started with my first when she was 4 months. But my doctor said I could only if she could sit up unassisted and hold her head up while sitting. We did oatmeal for the first week and then added a new food every 3-5 days. I also suggest doing veggies and savory foods first cause babies looooove their sweet foods.

Our current babe isn’t old enough yet, but we started our first on cereal at 4.5 months. He absolutely hated it (I don’t really blame him) and stopped cereal all together - which was fine bc it’s just a filler. So, we took a few weeks off and then went on to fruits and veggies. :)
