vivid, horrific dreams?? Trigger warning ⚠️

these last few nights I have been having the scariest, most vivid dreams I’ve ever had in my life. yesterday I dreamt that my whole family was being held hostage in this horrible slaughter shop and were killed off one by one in some back room torture chamber. last night I dreamt that this random man tried to rape me in a basement somewhere. when I called for help 3 people came down and the man trying to rape me killed 2 of the people trying to help and the third killed the rapist right before he died too. then i sat in a pile of blood and bodies screaming for help. i woke up in the morning after the dreams horrified and scared. i have no idea where any of this is coming from. i’ve never had dreams like this before, and i haven’t experienced any trauma that would lead to dreams like this. i haven’t watched a scary movie since i was like 12 years old. haven’t witnessed anything even remotely close to these incidents in my life. could this really just be hormones??..
