What would you have done?
So we have a trampoline. We bought it about 3 years ago. It's one of the big ones with a net. Well, occasionally I let me neighbors kids play on it. It's actually her step daughter (17 yo) and her grandson (9 or 10 yo). The other day they came and asked if they could play on it I said yes. I sometimes sit out there bc their mother/grandmother doesn't. Not bc she cant she just doesn't. Anyhow, the 10 yo fell into the net and one of the poles snapped. It was already bent and my husband straightened it but bc of that the metal isn't as sturdy. I told them to hop down and I looked at it. Now theres nothing holding the net on that side so I told the 17 yo no more playing on it until my husband welds it. Hes been working 60 hour weeks and this just happened sunday while he was at work so he hasn't had a chance yet. Well that evening I texted their mother/grandmother and told her just in case the kids didnt. I just told her "Hey. The trampoline net is broken and until Bobby (my husband) can fix it I would rather the children not play on it." Well this morning while cleaning my dog starts barking out the window so I go to see what hes barking at and the kids are back on the trampoline. They didn't come and ask my permission this time. I went outside and told the oldest one "You guys have to get down. The net is broken and you could fall and get hurt." They got down no fuss. Well a few hours later I was outside taking my dogs out and my neighbor comes out. I say hello to her and she doesnt say a word back. So I'm like ok. I was going to let her know again in case she didn't get my text I'd rather the kids stay off the trampoline until it's fixed but she got in her car too fast.
Then a little while later I get a message from her. Shes like "I don't know what happened earlier but (her daughter & grandson) told me you kicked them off the trampoline and acted rude." I was like "No. I asked them nicely to get down bc the net isn't stable anymore and if they fall I'm responsible. Also I wanted to talk to you bc (your daughter) never asked for permission." Since then i haven't heard back. I'm just wondering am I wrong or would you have done the same thing?? It made me kinda frustrated how her daughter ignored me, then tells her mother I was rude, and then I feel like the bad guy.
I would take a picture to show you but it's raining and dark already. I've had issues with these neighbors before but I try to stay civilized.
Also wasnt sure where to post this.
