Why did he do this?

I matched with a guy on tinder and we’ve been talking everyday for the last week. The other night we were snapchatting and he asks me to send a picture of myself because his friend wants to see a picture of me. Then after I sent it he said that I’m cute. If we haven’t met yet then why would he tell his friends about me and why not just take a picture from tinder? Also I have sent him snaps with my face in it. And I don’t want to ask him because I don’t want to possibly make things awkward.
