Big Kid Bed Fail

Have any of you ever “failed” the transition from crib to big kid bed?? We recently transitioned our 3 year old son to a big boy bed. Mostly bc I am expecting another baby in March. Chase was not complaining about his crib, never climbed out, went down easy and slept the whole night through. I thought changing him made sense and really believed we’d be successful, but we’re struggling. He goes down pretty easily still but wakes up several times during the night to ask to come to “Mamas bed” (through his monitor). He cries when I say no, and keeps fussing until one of us goes to sleep with him basically. We bought one of those color changing wake up clocks and now he just cries bc “it’s not green so I can’t come to Mamas bed”..... I’m so frustrated. Anyone ever just give up and put their child back in a crib?? I’m so tempted.
