Losing a pet caused me to start my period 9 days early

Yesterday my husband woke me up to tell me something was wrong with our 3 year old Chameleon.

(Yes, I understand some people view animals like reptiles as less of a pet or a companion than say a dog or a cat. Well, I’m an animal lover and losing my first ever Chameleon yesterday hurt worse than any loss I’ve felt in my life so far.)

Her name was Ganon, a female Jackson’s Chameleon.

I already knew she was nearing the end of her lifespan, but I still wasn’t prepared to lose her so soon. As soon as my husband woke me up, I immediately went into mom-mode. I gave her a soak with some warm water, she was very cold and taking large breaths with her mouth open. After she has warmed up and relaxed, I put her back in her cage and kept a close eye on her. She started doing those deep breaths again, so I took her out to give her another soak, and just to inspect her a little further. I’ve seen a lot of pets die in my life time, so I know the body language of a dying animal. She began thrashing, back bending, and her bowls released. I began sobbing while I held her in a warm towel. I knew she was dying. I held her for a few more hours and cried until she finally took her last breath. After the stressful day, I finally had a chance to go to the bathroom, and saw blood as I wiped. I knew my period wasn’t supposed to come on for another week or so, but I brushed it off. Today I’m bleeding super heavy and I’m having the worst cramps. My heart is palpitating, and my legs are so weak and shaky. I’ve only her had a stress induced period once, and I never thought I’d have one again. TLDR: Losing a pet caused me to start my period 9 days early. Now I’m twice as sad and twice as emotional.
