Any tips for teeth brushing?

My LO clamps his mouth shut after a couple of brushes. I’ve tried letting him watch me, have a go on my teeth, letting him have a go first. What strategies do you use? How long do you actually brush their teeth for? I’m lucky to get 5 seconds.

Get a toddler vibrating soft toothbrush!!! I cannot express how easy it has made it! My son loves it!!

I can get a good brush on the bottom teeth but the top teeth he doesn’t let me get to. I just let him chew on the brush for a bit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Her dentist told me to just let her chew on the brush if nothing else because it will help her produce more saliva and that helps clean teeth until shes able to follow direction more.

My little guy loves songs. At first he would scream and scream but I started singing to him and he has relaxed quite a bit. I'm usually able to give all of his teeth a good scrub, he does like to bite down when I scrub his molars though 🤣 I just wiggle the brush til he lets go.

I let my son chew on his toothbrush in the bathtub for a while lol

I put on a tiny bit of his paste then he lets me brush quickly before he takes it and chews/brushes them himself, then after a couple mins he’ll ask for more paste and we do this two or three times until he’s bored of it and starts trying to brush the shower floor 😂😅

I brush my teeth at the same time. He will either start to move his own brush around or he will reach for mine to brush my teeth and while he does that I use his brush to brush his. This does lead to him choking me with my own toothbrush from time to time haha but it’s worth it. Now he loves helping to brush teeth!

I have a toddler toothbrush and the toothpaste she can swallow. I get her toothbrush ready and just let her walk around with it to make it seem like she is a big girl and brushing her own teeth. I then, towards the end swoop in. Lol I stand over her and gently squeeze her cheeks so I can see her teeth then do a quick brush over all of the teeth I can get to. It works for us. Lol. Probably not the easiest thing, but I don’t feel like fighting her every night.
