IUD Experiences - good or bad ?

So I just recently had my son in November and I am looking to begin birth control but I am looking for something non hormonal. My doctor has suggested the IUD. 
Has any had any good or bad experiences with the IUD? Anything I should look out for ?

I don’t have children. I got the IUD SKYLA inserted in April.. It was the worst pain getting it inserted.  The periods were over two weeks long and painful cramps. I got it taken out after three months. I couldn’t handle it anymore. I know all girls react differently. I’m now on Lo loestrin fe the lowest hormone on the market.
