Would u be upset if ur SO never got u a gift?

So my SO n I have been together for 1 ½ years. We got together in October 18 n have a kid together. I got him a Christmas gift in 18 without expecting anything back since we had just started dating a matching shirt n onesie since we had just found out I was pregnant, matching bracelets, n sum little things ($50). Valentine's he got me a bear, chocolates, n a card. (I didn't get him nun bc I do sweetest day instead). Then in June (my bday) I asked if was planning on getting me anything he said yes. Never did. Then sweetest day/ anniversary (since it was kinda expensive) I got him a custom wallet with our little family and writing in graved ($45). Then his bday I got him a 🌲kit ($60). He didn't get me anything for our anniversary. For this past Christmas I framed the onesie from the previous Christmas since it no longer fit with some pics n wrote a book with 100 reasons y I love him including 50 pics that I drew. He didn't get me anything. Now we previously agreed that we we're getting each other stuff. And one of my love languages is giving gifts. I give people things to show them I love them. Now I have never asked for expensive things. I don't even want expensive things. I would probably be so happy if cry from getting a $5 stuffed animal of whatever. I never expect anything unless it's my bday, Christmas, anniversary, or Valentine's. WHICH WE HAVE DISCUSSED AND AGREED. Would u be upset if ur SO never got u anything but kept saying he would?

I’d be upset; one of my love languages is also gifts. I’d be upset since he previously agreed that he was getting you something and then didn’t. Have you sat down and talked to him about me? There’s a good chance he doesn’t realize how much it hurts you.

I would be upset if you’d talked about it, and then he didn’t.  Have you talked to him again?  He may think it’s not a big deal if he didn’t do it and you didn’t react.

I would probably be upset. And hear me out. It's not the "love language" or the "previous agreement" to me. To me it is the total lack of effort he is putting into that part of your relationship. My husband's and I love exchanging personal gifts. We think through what the others wants and needs are and to me that is special. To know someone well enough to walk into a store and know someone well enough to pick something special for them. And it shows me that he still cares enough to pay attention to the little things I say or stop and look at when we are out.

Definitely think he should care more if it’s something important/special to you.  If he can’t go out of his way to write you a letter or get u a chocolate or something then he just doesn’t care. If it’s important to you it should be to him and he should put in a little more effort and stop saying or promising something he won’t do.

Some people aren't into giving gifts and I get that, however you guys said you agreed to both get each other gifts and he has not. In my opinion, you should definitely talk to him about this and possibly clear up any misunderstanding because otherwise it just looks like he keeps lying and flaking on you.

My bf was raised not to really celebrate anything so we just usually celebrate our son. Now this Christmas we did gift each other, first time in 2.5 years. It used to be a big deal to me til I realized all the other stuff he does for me to show love.
