Pros/cons of psg testing?

When is it necessary and when is it not?
My husband and I have had lots of genetic testing along this journey, so just wondering if it is necessary at this point

My doc explained it as a selection process. Since i have low amh, am under 35, and only got two embryos my first round, there was no point in sending them for testing because we could just transfer and see what happens. For my friend who got 20 embryos, it made sense for her to narrow it down to the potential best for transfer. There’s controversial research about whether or not it should be used in every situation or if it’s 100% accurate, so I would do your own research and talk to your doctor before deciding to definitely do or not do it.

I am doing PGS on all my embroys. Frozen transfer with PGS will give the odds of the best possible outcome. 
Going through a pregnancy loss due to chromosomal issues is horrible and this gives best odds for that not to happen by implanting the very best embroys.
I disagree with some of the other comments because PGS typically won't destroy embryos at all, in fact if all test with abnormalities, you have the option to still keep them and even still implant if you have circumstances where you would want to take that risks and hope the chromosomes is a mosaic embryo fix themselves etc.
Read up on it. PGS is the gold standard and I personally would reccomend it. Your going through all this, why not do one extra step to ensure best outcome possible.

Depends what kind of emotional roller coaster you want. I had to do 3 transfers before my positive. I finally tested after the first 2 failed and I stuck with a normal tested embryo. Had done again, I wouldn’t have wasted my money, time and emotions on doing a transfer with an untested embryo. Just my opinion. It seems costly up front, but a transfer is about $3k when you add in medicines, etc. in the long run, could save you money.

I wanted to be sure that my transferred embryo is genetically normal to save myself the heartache of a failed transfer or a miscarriage (or at least reduce the odds considerably). It was 100% worth it for us. IVF is emotionally and financially taxing enough; no need for additional risks and disappointment. The cost of genetic testing was also lower than for a transfer plus meds, so it was a very easy decision for us.

It is usually recommended if: you are above a certain age or you have a history of miscarriages. I’m 28 with no miscarriages (well, no pregnancies prior to IVF), and it didn’t even come up as a topic of conversation in my appointments. Ultimately we had 3 embryos and no reason to believe there would be any issues, so I would not have risked the test destroying any of them in the process. We did not test and my first transfer was successful—now 14 weeks. 
PGS can be considered controversial because of the possible damage to embryos and the possibility of discarding an embryo that looks “abnormal” that may have implanted and resulted in a live birth. 
It’s a very personal decision, and is entirely dependent on your circumstances.
