If you need the “original copy” of your birth certificate does that mean a copy of the original is allowed?

I don’t have my original birth certificate. Like the very first one. I only have a copy of it. Is that not good enough? What else are you supposed to do if you don’t have it?

It cant be a scanned copy. You would have to go through the office of vital statistics and order a new one. It will have a seal imprinted or printed on it to prove it's an official copy

It probably needs to be an original document, which you can request from the vital statistics/vital records office in your state or province. When I was applying for a visa to immigrate to the US, an original copy of my long form birth certificate was required. I submitted a request to Vital Statistics in Saskatchewan and they sent me three original copies, two of which are now in my file with USCIS.
