Taking away formula at 12 months

I am super nervous about this. Anyone have any tips or want to comment on your game plan for this? Are you switching 100% to sippys?

I am not confident enough with how much my baby is eating to feel ok with only having cows milk and solids.

I need advice and tips because I have 1 month to figure this stuff out and should start the transition slowly soon!! 😭

My girl likes water in a sippy just like her sister did. She's down to 3 bottles a day with three full sized meals. When it gets to 11.5 months we will cut down to one bottle a day and supplement with a snack time for the times she would have had a bottle. We never did and won't be doing milk, with a balanced diet they don't really need it.

Our doc said stick with formula until 1. At that checkup she said we should discuss starting the transition. Since a lot depends on how much solids he’s eating. So we are just focusing on that too. He’s a big drinker but eating more than a few bites for him is very variable.

I’ve been wondering this too. I tried to get my son to take 4 bottles instead of 5 a few days ago and gave him more solids but it didn’t work and he cried until we gave him 10oz 😢 he usually only takes 6/7. I don’t know how I’ll do this either. He just wants milk.

It doesn’t have to be abrupt. It can be a slow transition. Just start offering food before milk so babe has a chance to fill up more on solids. It can be a gradual process.

There’s no need to stop formula right away

My girl already only drinks from a sippy, but I'm nervous that she won't like cow's milk!
