What is clomid and is it safe?

I’ve only been trying for 3 months but since I have hashimotos my doctor suggested I take clomid. I have seen people posting about it here but that is generally after they’ve been trying for awhile. I’m just super confused by the whole thing and would like some insight.

It’s a medication that helps you grow mature follicles and release follicle stimulating hormone, so when you do ovulate (if you ovulate on your own) you are releasing eggs that are mature enough to be fertilized. Clomid can cause overstimulation of the ovaries so it shouldn’t be used for repeated cycles without checking on your ovaries. It’s safe. Had my first on a round of clomid.

We’ve been trying for close to a year, I have pcos so my periods are super irregular, clomid is normally taken on CD3-CD7 or in my case CD5-CD9. It’s just a medicine that helps your body ovulate. ☺️ I’m currently on my second round of clomid right now! They normally prescribe it for 6 months, then if that doesn’t work then they try something different!
