Rocephin While Pregnant?

Question

My doctor prescribed me one gram of rocephin yesterday. I am seven weeks pregnant. Reading about the medicine, it is a Category B. Meaning that it is not studied in humans, but in animals. It has had no proven harm on an unborn fetus. It should only be used as prescribed. Has anyone out there had complications because of this medicine? 
I cannot take any other antibiotic.. and this was my only option. Someone please respond because I am so worried.

Couple of factors here.
1. What is the antibiotic for? Depending on the infection this may be the recommended medication.
2. Risk vs benefit. If this is truly the only antibiotic you can have the benefit out ways the risk. You don’t want to have an infection at the time of birth.
3. This is a very common antibiotic and frequently prescribed to pregnant women. I’m sure your doctor knows the  category of this medication, but again it comes down to no other alternatives and risk vs benefit for you and your baby.
