Shingles vaccine?

My moms sister had shingles and had been getting an antibiotic to clear them up. When we went to visit her the Dr gave her the all clear. My moms other sister was visiting her at the same time as my mom and I and was telling us about getting therapy for a pinched nerve in her arm. She went to a follow up Dr appointment and found out her "pinched nerve" was actually not a nerve, but the start of shingles. Should my mom and I get vaccinated for shingles? I know for sure that I had chicken pox when I was 5 years old. I am 45 now.

You can’t get the shingles vaccine until you’re in your 50’s. My husband and best friend had it in their early 20’s which is super rare. I asked my pharmacist and took a pamphlet, she told me if you’ve had the chicken pox, and get the vaccine too young just get shingles.

I just got over shingles (I’m only 30)! They SUCK! Lol once you have it, it’s very unlikely you’ll get it again. Also, if you can get the vaccine, I would! If you’re older you could get dementia from it or other internal issues. There’s 2 rounds of vaccines, the second is way worse than the first! The second one put my mom’s friend in the ER. I mean the effects depend on how sensitive you are but normally you get them 3-6 months apart so I’d go for 5-6 months apart to be safe!

Once you get chicken pox the shingles virus is in your system but the vaccine can help prevent it from going active if I remember right.
