My boyfriend has never been close or really even involved with his mom’s side of the family and it’s because his mom is (to be blunt) a piece of shit parent. She neglected my boyfriend and was too busy dating around and having other kids to care for him. She really only cared about the child support. When she had her other children, she left them in my boyfriend’s care (starting when he was only 6) for long periods until finally CPS granted him to his dad.

Since I’ve been dating him, my boyfriend still tries to reach out and make some sort of a relationship with her. Because of this, I added her on Facebook and from her posts & the stories I’ve heard from family, I wonder if she has some mental health issues, which is important to this because I think it puts a question to whether to believe her.

Anyways, she randomly messaged my boyfriend on Friday (she usually NEVER speaks to him) and told him his grandpa only has 2 weeks to love. My boyfriend was devastated, but I thought it sounded weird bc he told me she doesn’t really speak to him either. We planned on going to spend time with him tomorrow and then throughout the next 2 weeks. But then she messaged him tonight and told him that now he only has a few days left.

I can’t shake that this story doesn’t sound right.
