Is having one child sinful?

My husband and I have decided that we will not have any more children (we have a 2.5 year old son). I did struggle with the decision at first believing this could be a sin, but came to the conclusion that it is not. What are your thoughts ladies?

No. Deciding how many kids to have is a personal decision not a moral one. Children are a gift from God but you have free will to decide how many you want.

I have a different answer than other women here. The Bible says go forth and multiply, that’s what we know. We know that for a fact. We cannot for a fact say if it is a sin or not to decide when we are done. If you feel conviction on your heart for being done having kids that may be your answer. 
A very wise woman at a conference said: 
“Have you surrendered your life to God?” 
We all said yes. 
“So you have surrendered your life, your LIFE, but have you surrendered your womb?” 
And then continued to share stories from the Bible about how God has shown that he can open and close the womb in His timing. If we believe these stories in the Bible, why can’t we believe them for our own lives?
For example, Sarah, Abraham’s wife. She was not given a child in the timing she desired, but when God wanted to fulfill it. 
Our lives are designed with God’s plan in mind, but yes we are free to make our own choices. I personally have been convicted to allow Gods will over my number children. 
I became pregnant with my first child completely out of no where, very unexpected, I think the first time having unprotected sex with my partner. Then the child we tried to plan took almost a year and I am a young and very healthy woman without reason to have taken long to conceive according to science/medicine. Nothing truly goes according to our plans here ❤️
I am in NO WAY putting down women that have fertility issues! God has a unique plan for each of our lives that are for a purpose! Everyone was made for BEAUTIFUL things regardless of the gift of bearing children!

I don’t think so. If having multiple children isn’t something you’re ready for, or think you can do, you definitely shouldn’t do it. Too many larger families, including mine (I have nine siblings) end up going downhill in how well the kids are taken care of, and disciplined, and everything else. The older kids end up taking care of the younger ones, and then the younger ones stop listening to the parents because of that. Some people just can’t handle that many kids, and it affects all of the kids in those families. I know plenty of large families who CAN make it work, and every kid gets the same attention and care, but I know the same amount, if not more, who clearly can’t take care of all of their kids the same way. So if you can’t put the same amount of care and attention to all of your kids, I think that should be a sign that maybe you shouldn’t keep having more.

The Bible says that it is a blessing to have many children but that doesn’t mean that not having many children is sinful. That would be like saying being single is sinful because marriage is a blessing.

I think the only way it would be sinful is if you were aborting a child, or using a birth control method that leads to an abortion.  I personally would love another child, but my husband feels it would be too stressful to have another one.  I’m praying that God will help us come to an agreement and change one of our hearts, because not having another child feels heartbreaking to me. I come from a big family and I really want my son to have at least one sibling.

Saying only having one child is sinful, is insinuating that somehow women with fertility issues and no children, are sinful. See how that doesn’t make sense?

After prayer and seeking what God's word says about childbearing we had and have a lot of peace in leaving our fertility in God's hands.  Some times God does only give one child, Sarah, Elizabeth and Zechariah, Jairus's daughter etc. I have a friend who doesn't prevent pregnancy but knew in her heart that her son would be her only child, this boy is 12 and a half years old, she's now probably very close to the end of her child bearing years and still he is their only child. But she's at peace with it, as they in faith left her fertility in God's hands.
