Convince me on cloth diapers

Y'all... I REALLY want to like cloth and reusable diapers (and wipes for that matter). I love the thought of them. They're better for the environment and they are actually pretty cute. I'm not sure why, but i can't seem to make the switch and convince myself 100%. How do you travel with them when you can't do laundry? Is it as gross as I'm thinking it is (ie, cleaning the poop off the diaper)? What are the pros?

I would love the make the switch but there's just something stopping me 😖
