I think we have RSV?

Question

Hey guys, do you know if they can do a test in the doctors office for RSV? Is it a nose swab or a blood test? Dispite getting RSV shots, he is super gunky and it started 4-5 days ago. It kinda is following a peak pattern that RSV has. He struggling to breathe at all, and is pretty cranky but not anything I'm worried about. The little immunity from the shot I think is keeping it at bay a bit. TIA 💙💙

There isn't a vaccine for RSV yet, it was probably the flu vaccine he got, which only covers influenza A and B. RSV is basically a ramped up cold. Adults get it  a lot, it causes young and old to get very sick. The clinic can do a swab to determine RSV and get him started on steroids. Go into the clinic and get seen even if it is not RSV or the flu they can get him on steroids.

My son was tested over the weekend. They did a nasal swab for flu and rsv
