Dental question

So... I am 30. I have had a high canine tooth my whole life. My dentist told me yesterday he recommended braces because I have a crossbite on the right side, and it would also correct the high tooth. I know bite is important but at 31 and working closely with patients I really don’t feel that two to four years of braces is necessary (and wow that cost) plus, I’ve came this far lol but I do hate smiling because of it. has anyone had that tooth simply removed? My mouth is so crowded that I believe if removed the other tooth would quickly close the gap. Or a flipper/partial/something?! 😫
