Is my mother in law wrong ?

I have my 20 week anatomy scan in 2 weeks I planned on having my gender reveal a few days after I found out. Mother in law told me I am moving too fast and will jinx it, like something could happened with the baby. She’s scaring me this is my first child. Should I listen to her and do it later in the my pregnancy or you think she is overreacting/overthinking?

People are doing their gender reveals at 10 weeks due to blood testing now. You can’t be preparing and dwelling on the worst to happen. Enjoy the pregnancy and do the gender reveal if that’s what you want to do

There's always a chance something will happen but that chance is generally low. And even if something did happen why would you want to just not celebrate anything and remove the joy from your own pregnancy?

Planning your gender reveal won’t “jinx” anything. 
Plan, celebrate, and enjoy every moment of it. If something happens (which it most likely won’t), it’s not because you planned your gender reveal or anything like that.

Whilst there's always a chance of something happening further along in a pregnancy the numbers for this aren't that high, she's valid for having concerns and worries for you and the baby but also shouldn't be adding that stress when it's not necessary. 
Throw your baby shower/gender reveal whatever, there's nothing wrong with doing so and many people throw them at the stage you're at
