Breaking the news

When is everyone planning to make an announcement to their parents, family, etc.? I know telling anyone in the first trimester is really iffy, but I’m having my first ultrasound in a few weeks (8 week mark) and my father in law receives all the insurance bills, so I’m nervous he will catch on and the news will get out! Not to mention my MIL is a little freakin crazy and already went apeshit on us about a year ago cuz she thought we were hiding a pregancy from her! I would prefer not to tell anyone until the 16 week mark (12 at the earliest) but just wanted to get some outside POV. Thanks in advance
