Should i just consider myself out this month?

So hubby says not to be discouraged because in his previous marriage his ex was 6 days late and got a vvvvfl, not a dark line not an obvious one either. I just don't know how common it is to not have a bfp by now. I tested yesterday and it was negative. I'm trying to be positive about it but I missed my period in December and I was really excited only to get af in early January which made me so sad. I'm worrying that the same thing will happen this month. So when do I consider myself out for this month? Now or later? Should I wait to say I'm out by 2 weeks late or before then?
